A second joint meeting of the FinTech and Infrastructure Scoping Forums was held to provide the “decentralised finance” or “DeFi” perspective on the use of blockchain in the financial markets and the legal challenges arising thereof. 

The following experts spoke at the meeting:

  • Adi Ben-Ari is the Founder & CEO of Applied Blockchain and has over 25 years enterprise software experience, more recently leading major deliveries of production blockchain and confidential computing solutions at global companies including Shell (an investor in Applied Blockchain), Barclays, Toyota, Lloyds Register and the United Nations.  Adi is widely recognised as an independent thought leader in the industry, a noted speaker at major conferences, and acts as an advisor for a number of start-ups. His work has been noted by the UK Government, where he was invited to present at Parliament, the House of Lords, and at leading academic institutions.
  • Charles Kerrigan, a Partner at CMS U.K, has been named a “leading influencer” by The Blockchain Industry in the UK – Landscape Overview.  At CMS he works on funding, advisory work and setting standards for emtech in the UK and Europe.  He also holds positions at Cointelligence Fund, a crypto hedge fund, and Holistic AI, an algorithmic assurance firm.  He is an Advisory Board Member for the Investment Association’s Engine accelerator and Chair of the Technology Working Group for the Association of Real Estate Funds.  His latest book is Artificial Intelligence – Law and Regulation (Edward Elgar, 2022).
  • Phantom Seokgu Yun is the CEO and chief scientist of SWN Global. He has over 25 years of experience in cryptography, algorithms and security architectures. Phantom has provided security solutions to Davos and G20 summits, LG, Samsung and Yahoo, among other multinational corporations. He currently leads the MetaMUI CBDC and NFTs platform, the first identity-based blockchain.
  • Lodewijk Van Setten is General Counsel at TriliTech Limited, a Tezos ecosystem company. TriliTech cooperates with other Tezos ecosystem companies, partners, and projects on a variety of Tezos blockchain matters, including core protocol development, application development, and blockchain business development. Lodewijk joined TriliTech from offshore private practice, where he advised and assisted a range of DeFi projects and CeFi crypto exchanges.  Prior to that, Lodewijk worked in the asset management sector in London at Morgan Stanley Investment Management and State Street Global Advisors.
