This meeting of the Brexit Advisory Group was held after HM Government had negotiated a six-month extension to the Article 50 notice period, postponing the day on which the U.K. would withdraw from the E.U. to 31 October 2019.  As HM Government slowed down its hard Brexit planning, the Advisory Group shifted focus to the recent news about a possible Scottish independence vote and its legal implications, both in the wider context of Brexit and for financial institutions. Dr Hamish Patrick of Shepherd and Wedderburn LLP in Edinburgh attended as a guest speaker.
